We couldn’t be prouder! Our Client Services Director; Martin is donning his Lycra with some friends and endeavouring to cycle 100 miles in one day to raise much needed funds for Group B Strep Support charity.

Martin is hoping that friends and colleagues will support him and his cycling buddies in raising a target of £1000 for the Group B Strep Support charity.

The team will be taking on the challenge to cycle 100miles each on the 5th June 2021 in memory of a beautiful little girl called Phoebe Egerton. She was born with Group B Streptococcus and at only 2 days old she suffered unimaginable and irreversible brain damage. She battled everyday of her life, but sadly was taken from her family less than 2 years later.

Phoebe’s story isn’t an isolated one and many other families face this horrendous and heart-breaking situation, yet most group B Strep infections are preventable.

On average in the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection – one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both

Group B Streptococcus is bacteria carried by 2-4 in every 10 women. Although not harmful to those carrying it, there is a risk of serious infection in some babies at birth. GBS is not routinely tested for during pregnancy and many expectant parents are unaware of the condition and it’s potential risks.

More has to be done to raise awareness of GBS and that is why the donations raised are all going to the Group B Strep Support charity which informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.

We are fully supporting Martin’s efforts and incredibly inspired by his passion to help such an important, sadly overlooked cause.
