We love to hear about our team’s out of office pursuits, and for Kat Plant, our marketing and design lead, her weeks are busier than many! Alongside her role at IDS Group and raising a family of her own, Kat also finds the time to support others within her community – volunteering at Leeds Baby Bank

As a charity dedicated to providing for young families in crisis across the Leeds City Region, Kat’s role involves working closely with the organisation’s manager, Will Munton to produce and support the communication strategy with the aim of collecting together everyday essentials and raising vital funds to help people during this precious, but often expensive, time in their lives.

Making it her mission to help out where she can, Kat worked alongside Will to bolster the group’s fundraising efforts and, together, they launched a successful summer campaign — Miles for Smiles Leeds — a community challenge to collectively complete 5,000 miles, with the aim of raising £5,000 during August.

Combining a series of outings with her children and her passion for running, Kat made her own contribution to this fantastic cause – clocking up a total of 70 miles.

Between them, the team and their many generous supporters raised a fantastic £2,000 which will go towards providing essential supplies — from bedding and mattresses to nappies and baby milk — to those in need.

Although August and the Summer Miles for Smiles initiative may have come to a close, children in the area are still awaiting support. Each donation that the charity receives, takes them a step closer to putting smiles on faces during what has been a difficult year for all. You can still donate to the campaign here.
