Covid Oximetry at Home
User-centred design and service architecture for the award-winning Covid Oximetry at Home programme
The requirement
Covid Oximetry at Home was a national NHS service designed and delivered at pace during the COVID-19 pandemic. The service enabled patients to monitor their oxygen levels safely at home, supporting early clinical intervention and helping to reduce pressure on hospitals.
IDS Group supported NHS Digital by providing specialist user research, service design and UX architecture, working collaboratively across a complex, multi-supplier delivery environment.
The project at-a-glance
- Rapid national rollout: Delivered a critical health service in 3 months to support early clinical intervention and reduce hospital pressure.
- Specialist research and design: Conducted rapid user research and end-to-end service mapping to ensure safe, inclusive remote monitoring.
- GDS and NHS compliance: Aligned all UX architecture with the UK Government Service Manual and NHS service frameworks.
- Multi-supplier collaboration: Orchestrated coherent user journeys across a complex ecosystem of parallel delivery partners.
- Mission-critical impact: Created a trusted, award-winning service that enabled early detection of patient deterioration at scale.
