Leeds Building Society is a member-owned financial institution offering a variety of savings accounts, mortgages, and insurance products. With a strong internal technical team who manage the build and maintenance of multiple products and services across the business portfolio.

As part of a digital transformation project the company engaged with IDS as a technical partner to provide flexible resourcing solutions and ongoing support to bolster the team and skillset.

Our solution

To ensure the smooth transition of core system development, there was a need to scale up their team so that they could tackle the redevelopment while ensuring that existing systems and processes were not neglected.

Imbedded into the team, we provided key technical resources for their business and functional requirements across multiple divisions. We placed a team of specialists to scope out their needs – to identify and evaluate various change requests across different business areas, based on their value, business benefit and feasibility. 

The integrated team included technical advisors, architects, business analysts, scrum masters, technical delivery managers and product owners who were embedded within existing teams, where they helped to deliver the society’s programme of complex digital transformation projects, within tight timescales.

An empowered team with improved capabilities across multiple work streams and departments. These improvements have resulted in significant time savings, enhanced processes, more predictable delivery timelines, and a skilled workforce confident in their new methodologies.

One department we transformed was savings and back office who existed in four defined teams maintaining a variety of legacy systems – all key to business operation. By introducing agile methodologies and providing expert coaching, teams improved their workflows, make informed decisions, and manage risks more effectively.

Specialists worked closely with each team to implement incremental changes, minimising disruption to their operations. Leveraging existing tools like Jira and Power BI, teams were enabled to track progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements. As teams gained confidence, IDS gradually reduced its involvement, ensuring a smooth transition to self-sufficiency.
